Lunar Distance

This summer I wrote a short piece on Finnegans Wake and Vico for the catalogue of the exhibition Lunar Distance at De Hallen in Haarlem. It’s available now, and I am very happy with the publication — I like it a lot, it’s very beautifully designed. (And btw, the exhibtion is worth while visiting too, runs till 29th November): http://www.lunardistance.nl/.

Newropeans

Reinder Rustema – a.o. ex-Mediamatic, and the former user of the garage-box of my former appartment in return for me reading his NRC, and a very nice person – is a candidate for the European election of June 4th, for the Newropeans, a pro-Europe party: http://www.newropeans2009.com/Nederland/.

See also his own website: http://rustema.nl/ and blog: http://www.newropeans2009.com/reinder_rustema/ — from where you can find the Facebook-stuff too.

He of course is asking if I’d vote for him. We had a few interesting discussions about politics in the past.

I tried the ‘stemwijzer’: http://www.stemwijzer.nl/
(with all the stupid questions about animals), and guess which party came up first?

The Newropeans.

(still, I think I’ll vote again for the same party I voted for the last 3 or so times.)

But this result is enough reason for me to put in this little effort to make Reinder’s party more known. Take a look at their program, they have good points.

Kijk wij hebben papier gemaakt!

This afternoon I’ll take a break and cycle up to the Florapark, where F’s Dream Depot has a small exhibition (until April 10th) at the Noorderparkkamer: http://www.noorderparkkamer.nl/: Kijk wij hebben papier gemaakt!. It shows the results of a paper-making workshop at a school in Amsterdam-Noord, and also photographs of the project. A few are online at the still temporary lo-tech website of Dream Depot: http://www.dreamdepot.org.

DNK review in Time Out Amsterdam

“Whatever the answer, experimental music doesn’t translate on paper but makes sense with a beer in hand and equally inquisitive music fans eager to talk shop. Best to experience it yourself.”

My favorite musical ‘hang-out’ is reviewed by Colin Delany in Time Out Amsterdam. The text is here: http://stopdroprocknroll.blogspot.com/2009/01/sounds-of-science.html.
