Het eerste tochtje van 2007. Het eerste tochtje vanuit Amsterdam na een jaar in Zuid-Limburg. Het eerste tochtje sinds een maand. In de afgelopen 15 jaar heb ik zelden zo’n lange tijd niet gereden. En hoe langer je het eerste tochtje uitstelt, des te moeilijker wordt het om te beginnen. Uitvluchten: ‘Geen tijd, te druk met andere zaken’. (Waar). ‘Te slecht weer’. (Ook waar — was het vorig jaar lang te koud, nu was het almaar warm, maar ook nat en stormachtig). Andere jaren zou me dat niet hebben weerhouden om toch tussendoor wat tochtjes te maken. Ik zag er tegenop om het wielrennen in de polder en de stad weer op te pakken. Tegenzin. Spanning. En dan die irritatie en dat concentratiegebrek die, als je er zo bij stilstaat, helemaal niet (enkel) te maken hebben met alle nieuwe dingen in je leven, maar de irritatie is van een lichaam dat gewend is aan beweging en die beweging niet krijgt.
Vanochtend werd ik wakker met gedachten aan een tochtje over Saive en Heuseux en Bolland – alsof dat landschap hier om de hoek ligt.
En toch kijk ik al weken uit om door de polder te rijden en het uitzicht over de Inlaagpolder, het Naardermeer en de Ronde Hoep te zien.
Het was droog. Tegen de middag maakte ik mijn vies-weer-fiets (de Concorde met rammelende voorderailleur, nauwelijks functionerende verstellers en een kleine slag in het achterwiel) klaar. Een rondje. Na 5 minuten liepen mn benen al vol – maar een lichaam pakt een bekende beweging heel snel op, na 10 minuten reed ik heerlijk, pal tegen de wind in: het waaide stevig, nou, eigenlijk gewoon keihard uit het westen. Gelukkig reed ik met de vies-weer-fiets, want het fietspad door de Brettenzone ligt opgebroken (daar waren ze nochtans in oktober 2005 al begonnen met werken…) en jawel, bij Spaarnwoude begon het heel smerig te motregenen. Soms is het best lekker om door slecht weer te rijden, maar de combinatie van harde wind en regen in de winter… Dus wat eerder omgekeerd dan ik van plan was, en over het (nieuwe) fietspad langs de autoweg terug. (Het fietspad waar je met westenwind ontzettend hard kunt rijden). Daarom maar een kilometer of 30, in plaats van 40 a 50.

For instance, another Oorbeek-appearance at the Stedelijk – saturday 27th, 16.00 – 18.00 at Radio Rietveld. This is our third Stedelijk-gig: 1. “illegal” roof concert organized by Mediamatic. 2. Mark van Tongeren concert in the (now defunct???) series of modern music. 3. Radio Rietveld. Funny.

Writing takes time. Blogging takes time. My time is taken by packing, unpacking and moving stuff around. Boxes with books, boxes with papers, boxes with stuff. (The paper trail of one’s life). My time is taken by getting used to new things – I started working at V2_ last week. I will be moving house over the next few weeks. Blogging is not on my mind these days.
