I know, this kind of contradicts my effort of making all these maps.

And I am thinking about these issues quite often. One reason why I do not use Googlemaps (except for the problem that Googlemaps does not have cycleroads on their maps) is that I don't like Googlemaps cartography. I know, my scans suck, but the cartography of both the ANWB-maps and the Michelin-maps (especially the old 1:200.000 ones) is way beyond that of the maps used by "the gadgets"...
